NYC ⇄ Stone Harbor: free carpool & ride share board
Plenty of New Yorkers make the run down the Parkway to Seven Mile Island every summer weekend — usually with empty seats. Down the Shore Rides is a free community board where drivers post those seats and riders grab one, splitting gas and tolls directly. No fees, no apps in the middle, no fares.

It's roughly 2½–3 hours: out of the city, down the Garden State Parkway to Exit 10 — the exit for Stone Harbor and Avalon. Drivers and riders text to agree on a pickup spot and a fair gas/toll split before the trip.
Why not a bus or rideshare?
There's no direct transit from NYC to Stone Harbor — buses involve transfers and a taxi or Uber that distance is wildly expensive. A shared ride with someone already driving is door-to-door and cheap for everyone.
